Zoos Across The Globe

Do you think there are zoos in China? Like, people zoos, not the place. Zoosexuals. I mean, there must be, right? China is a country of over a billion people. If even the most conservative numbers on the prevalence of zoosexuality are true, that's hundreds of thousands of people. The US has less than a quarter of the population of China, and we have a fairly active zoo movement. So, China must too, right?
And yes, of course, it's worth mentioning that a lot of other countries than just the US end up being a part of the sort of "Western" internet, where everyone uses American sites and speaks English. So, trying to compare China directly to the US feels maybe not fair. But even if the numbers were exactly even, do you think there are Chinese zoo podcasts that exist, and people are using third party platforms and complaining that they get banned off WeChat and the other big apps over there? I mean, bestiality isn't even illegal in China, so theoretically they could have a much bigger zoo movement than we do!
What about somewhere like India? India is another country with more than a billion people. They also have a culture where eating meat is seen already as more bad, and animals can be held to a higher social regard. Surely there's some really amazing zoos out in India creating really cool activism for our cause out in their country, right? I mean, there has to be.
Sometimes thinking about zoosexuality and culture is a little bit like thinking about aliens. The universe is infinitely big. We generally understand the requirements for life to exist, and we sort of presume it wasn't just a total one off. Realistically, we know that it's very likely that other forms of life exist somewhere in the universe. But like... where? And also what? The American zoo community feels like how we feel on earth. We'll beam things up into space sometimes. Probes and satellites and beams and what not. And we hope to find... something? But the universe is so vast, and we don't really even know what we're looking for.
Even though from the perspective of a mathematical equation I can say pretty definitively that aliens exist, the fact that I have to just believe in them makes it so much harder for me to keep actually trusting that they are out there.
And like, low key that sucks. I want to know about aliens, in the same way that I am so curious what the zoos in Russia are up to. Or Japan. Or throughout Africa. Because while we understand what being a zoo looks like from our perspective, at the same time other zoos may have come from totally different backgrounds, and might be trying to do activism in their own unique ways. Think about all that we could learn from one another. How we could help each other grow. How amazing would it be to create a full global network of zoos all working together to make the world a better place for animals everywhere?
This article is an open call from us here at Zooey Dot Pub to any zoos outside the typical western bubble. If you live somewhere different, please reach out. Let's chat. I want to know what the zoosexual landscape looks like from your eyes. Even if you're just friends with a zoo from Korea, or Scandinavia, or the Middle East, see if they'd be willing to talk to us here.
All around the world, there are zoos with amazing, interesting things to say, and experiences to share. I want to hear them. I want to believe.
So let's chat!
